Same day means what it says here: call (323) 433-6458 during office hours, Monday through Friday, and our dentists hold you an appointment for today. We don't take walk-ins, and there's a reason for that. A held time means a room, an X-ray unit and a dentist are ready when you arrive instead of a waiting room with three people ahead of you.
The $99 covers the emergency exam and diagnostic X-rays for patients paying without insurance. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.

What "same-day dentist" means at our Reseda office
It means the exam, the X-rays, the diagnosis, the written price and, in most cases, the treatment happen in one visit. It means a root canal isn't scheduled for next Thursday and an extraction isn't sent to a different building. And it means the hours actually cover an emergency: Monday and Wednesday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What it doesn't mean is a dentist open at 2 AM. Nobody is. The phone is answered at 2 AM, by a real person, and the first opening is held for you.
Why call first instead of walking in
Because a walk-in office can only say "have a seat." A held time lets the front desk get your insurance sorted before you arrive, lets the dentist know what's coming, and lets us set up the room for a knocked-out tooth or an abscess rather than finding out when you're in the chair. Calling takes two minutes and saves you most of an afternoon.

Some treatments take a second visit by nature: a crown that's being made, a badly infected root canal that needs to settle before it's sealed. You'll know that before you commit, and you leave the first visit out of pain.
What the same-day visit costs in Reseda
The exam and X-rays are $99 for patients paying without insurance; with a PPO plan, they're billed to the plan. Every treatment after that is quoted in writing before it begins, and the price doesn't change because the appointment was made that morning. We accept all PPO dental plans, and Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit financing plus in-house payment plans are available. The cost and insurance page has the full explanation.
Evenings: Tuesday and Thursday until 7:00 PM
A toothache that becomes unbearable at 4:30 PM on a Tuesday can still be seen that day. Call, and the front desk holds you one of the evening times. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday the last appointments run up to closing, and a call after closing gets you the first slot the next morning.

Frequently asked questions
If I call at 4 PM, can I still be seen today?
On Tuesday and Thursday, usually yes, since we're open until 7:00 PM. On other days it depends on what's left in the schedule; the front desk will tell you honestly and, if today is full, hold you the first time tomorrow morning. Call (323) 433-6458 and ask.
What if I just show up?
You'll be asked to call or to wait for a gap, and there may not be one. A held appointment is the fast path, and it takes a two-minute phone call from the parking lot if you're already here.
Do you see new patients the same day?
Yes. Almost every emergency call is from someone we haven't met. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card if you have one.
Can I get a same-day appointment on a Saturday?
Most Saturdays the office is closed. One Saturday a month we open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM by appointment only; ask the front desk which one is coming up. On the other Saturdays, the phone is still answered and the first Monday opening is held for you.
