How pricing works, step by step
- The exam and X-rays. $99 for patients paying without insurance. This is the only price we publish, because it's the only part of the visit that's the same for everyone.
- The diagnosis. Our dentist shows you the X-ray and explains what's wrong in plain words: a crack, an infection, decay under an old filling.
- The written price. Before any treatment, you get the cost of the recommended option on paper, and the cost of the alternatives if there are any. A root canal and crown versus an extraction, for example.
- Your decision. You can say yes and be treated the same day, take the paper home and think, or ask for the option you can afford now. Nobody is treated without approving the price first.
Why we don't list treatment prices
Because the honest answer to "how much is a root canal" is "which tooth, and how bad is it." A front tooth with one canal and a molar with four are different jobs. A simple extraction and a surgical one aren't the same procedure. Listing a single number would either mislead you or leave out the part that matters. The X-ray tells the dentist which job you actually have, and then the number is real.
Dental insurance we accept
We accept all PPO dental plans. Tell the front desk your plan name when you call and bring the card. Your PPO plan is billed according to its terms, and you're responsible for whatever the plan doesn't cover, which is explained before treatment. If you're unsure whether your plan is a PPO, the card usually says so, or the front desk can help you find out.
Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal) and HMO dental plans are not accepted at this office. If that's your coverage, we'd rather you know before you drive over; you're welcome to be seen as a self-pay patient at the same $99 start.
No insurance? Here's how it works
The same way. $99 for the exam and X-rays, a written price for the treatment, and your decision. Self-pay patients get the same appointment on the same day as everyone else. Many emergencies turn out to be a single treatment, and you'll know the exact cost before it begins.
Financing and payment plans
If the treatment costs more than you want to pay at once, there are options: Cherry, CareCredit and Sunbit financing, and in-house payment plans arranged through our office. The front desk explains how each works and helps you apply before treatment starts. We accept cash and major credit and debit cards.
What the $99 does and doesn't include
It includes the emergency exam and the diagnostic X-rays needed to find the problem. It doesn't include treatment: fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, repairs and prescriptions are separate and always quoted in writing first. There are no conditions attached to the $99. It's the price of the exam, full stop.
